How to Work With a Pool Intermatic Time Clock? Posted by Esposito Pool | Comments: (0) | News

It is important to control when your pool equipment turns off or on to facilitate your pool maintenance. You don’t have to be a mechanic for maintaining the water flow and quality in your pool; instead you can set up and operate a pool time clock to control your pool equipment adeptly.

The most commonly used pool timer for pool pumps is the intermatic time clock. With this clock, you can set your pool pump on in the early morning even when you are sleeping or just all night by adjusting it accordingly. By setting the pool time clock in non-peak hours, you can efficiently save your significant amount of time and money. Setting a pool timer is as easy as setting a clock in your home, but it requires some proper instructions to operate it efficiently. So, let’s learn the steps to operate the pool intermatic time clock proficiently.

  • Pull the door of the pool intermatic time clock to open the box and look for trip switches. There will be two trip switches; first one is labeled as ON and second one is labeled as OFF.
  • To set the time correctly, pull the dial of the intermatic time clock outwards or towards yourself and rotate the dial left or right until the right time is set with the help of the permanent silver bar.
  • Use pliers or screwdrivers to loosen the ON and OFF switches if it is necessary and set the switches consequently; for example, OFF- 3 AM and ON -7 AM.
  • Once the time is set, you can tighten the switches before closing the door of the intermatic time clock box.

If you look at the back of the time clock, you will find some gears moving in clockwise direction. These gears confirm if the time clock is working properly or not. So, during the setting up of the timer, it is advised not to touch these gears as it might obstruct the normal functioning of the intermatic time clock. Moreover, when the time is set, the door of the intermatic time clock should be closed to prevent dirt, bugs, or water from entering into it.

We must say that every pool owner should use the pool intermatic time pool to keep a check on the functioning of their pool pump system. It will not only help in saving time required in turning the pump system on and off, but will also make the pool maintenance procedure simple and easier.

Easy Steps to Clean Your Pump Pot Basket Posted by Esposito Pool | Comments: (0) | News

It is important to clean the pump pot baskets regularly for maintaining the overall hygiene of your swimming pool. If the pomp pot basket becomes clogged, it might put pressure on the pump to work harder for cycling the water properly. It will not only reduce the life of the pump but it will also stress the seals in your pump.

If the basket becomes full of debris, it impedes the flow of water and you will not get the proper turnover rate to filter the pool water appropriately while filtration is a significant part of your pool maintenance. The clogging of pump pot basket will not only affect the filtering and pumping abilities of the pump system, but it will negatively affect your pool maintenance.

Here are simple steps that can help you check and clean your pump pot basket regularly:

• Turn off the pump of your pool to stop the water flow through the pump.

• Turn the air relieve valve on the top of pool filter in counterclockwise direction to relieve the air pressure.

• For opening the pump pot, turn the two knobs of the pump pot basket lid counterclockwise and rotate the knobs away from the lid.

• Once the lid is open, check the O-ring for any debris because even a grass or a hair strand can cause the lid not to seal down properly.

• Check the pump pot basket for any debris and if you see anything, make sure to take out the basket out of the pump pot to clean it. There is an opening on one side of the basket to maintain the flow of water.

• Clean the debris from the bottom of the basket with a help of a garden hose.

• Put the basket in the pump pot properly. The pump pot basket should be placed properly with the opening facing towards the suction pipe, which is in front of the pump in inward direction. If you will place the basket with the opening on other side, then the debris will not get into the basket but goes under the basket into the impeller clogging the pump pot.

• Lubricate the O-ring with a good lubricant so that it could seal down properly  but don’t push lot of force in closing this lid because it might cause damage to the O-ring. Once, the pump is turned on, the lid will get sealed properly due to the pressure from the back.

 Plaster is known for longevity

Plaster has been used as a pool surfacing option for more than 50 years. It is the oldest pool surfacing options available until this date and the credit goes to the longevity provided by this highly robust material. Experiences have proven that a pool interior with plaster can withstand well with the pool water chemistry.

A cost effective option

Plaster is a very cost effective pool surfacing option because their initial cost is pretty low below than other pool interior surfacing alternatives. Moreover, the average life span of a plaster surface extends around 15-20 years that makes it one of the most affordable component of a swimming pool. It means that plastering the pool interior values for your investment.

In such cases, the plastered pool surfaces are known to sustain repairing process that can involve chemical treatments as well. However, other pool surface options don’t offer this much of tolerance during the repairmen procedures.

Sustain improper water balance

Your pool water might lose its chemical balance due to certain reasons such as defect in chlorinator, floods or heavy storms. This chemical imbalance causes corrosion and damage of the pool interior surface. If you choose to plaster your pool interior, it can easily sustain improper water balance.

Ecologically sound and non-hazardous

Pool plaster is known to be created from nature’s finest material and hence it offers a completely non-hazardous and ecologically sound pool environment. Due to its non toxic properties, it doesn’t cause any side effects to the pool water chemistry, thus making the pool water extremely safe for the pool owners.

Easily available in varied colors

You can choose pool plaster in any color of your choice to create the preferred appearance. The plaster color doesn’t give the coloring to the surface only, but constant through the entire material. Besides, there are options available for various finishing techniques that consists of exposed aggregate that let you choose from a wide variety of preferred pool appearances.

Installation Guide for Inline Chlorinator Posted by Esposito Pool | Comments: (0) | Pool Care

Nothing can give you more pleasure than having a refreshing bath in the pool at your backyard. However, pools need good maintenance to remain clean and sanitized and the chlorinators play an imperative role in simplifying your pool maintenance procedure. With chlorinator, you can add chlorine tablets to your pool water in controlled levels to keep it germ free. Though, it is equally important to install the chlorinator in line with the plumbing system of your pool so that you could refill and maintain it easily.

The basic components of an Inline Chlorinator are listed below:

Tube: It is the main body of the inline chlorinator that holds the chlorine tablets.

Filter Stand: It is placed down there at the bottom of the chlorinator and its main function is to provide base to the chlorine tablets so that they could clog the hole directly. Without the filter stand, the chlorine tablets will clog the hole and obstructs the flow of water across the chlorinator.

Cap/Lid: The lid is located on the top that screws the chlorinator. It comes with an O-ring that needs to be changed in every 6 months.

Control Valve/Inline Valve: It controls the water flow into the chlorinator and also governs the chlorine feed rate.

Check Valve: The check valve is located at the bottom to keep water from backing up across the chlorinator into the remaining equipment.

Installation

Install the inline chlorinator in the return line of the pool and keep the return line between the components of the plumbing system including the heater and the pump. Make sure to turn off the filter and pump systems and close the valves.

The chlorinator should be installed in the upright position with the cap/lid facing upwards. Ensure to cut the pipe at the precise location where you want to install the inline chlorinator. Place the filter stand at the bottom of the chlorinator to avoid clogging of the hole by the tablets.  Use PVC solvent to attach the chlorinator and verify the valves are in place. Place the chlorine tablets on the top of the filter stand but do not stack the tablets above the reference line. Now, close the top of the chlorinator with the cap/lid. The lid should be tightened using the fingers only because if you tighten it using your whole hand, the o-ring will be damaged causing leakage from the chlorinator.

As the owner of the pool, you always make sure to install the chlorine in line with the plumbing system for proper functioning so that you can enjoy an energizing bath in your clean pool water

Tips to Maintain Your Pool Water Chemistry and pH Posted by Esposito Pools | Comments: (0) | News, Pool Care, Video
It’s all about water when it comes to enjoy and relax in a pool on a sunny day. Though, it is equally important to take care of your pool water against contaminations. You don’t need to be a chemist for maintaining your pool water chemistry but you must understand the proper use of chemicals to maintain ideal pH value of your pool water. Sometimes, the pool owners use too much of pool chemicals that might disturb the pH balance of the water and damage their pool equipment.

Here are some tips that every pool owner must know to maintain the pool water chemistry.

Opt for Right Type of Chlorine

Chlorines that are used as major disinfectants against bacteria, fungus, and algae for pool water come in different variants such as 1-inch tablet, 3-inch tablets, or granular form.  The most common type of chlorine is the 3-inch tablets that are slow-dissolving and needs less maintenance. Use of Chlorine tablets in excess amount can make pool water acidic and corrosive. So, choose the type of chlorine tablet depending on the size of your pool.

Check the Chlorinator Daily

Chlorinator slowly dissolves the chlorine in the pool water. If you use too much of chlorine tablets in the water, it might get blocked that will inhibit the flow of water from the pump system towards the pool. So, it is important that you monitor your chlorinator daily to make sure it is adjusted properly and it is not getting choked with the chlorine tablets.

Avoid Dumping Chlorine Tablets in Excess

If you will dump the chlorine tablets in excess into the chlorinator of your swimming pool, it will make all the water passing through your pool plumbing equipment very acidic and corrosive. This will not only harm the swimmers but will also accelerate the corrosion process, which will cause early breakdown of your pool equipment.

Monitor pH balance of Pool Water Closely

It is as imperative as using chlorine in your pool. Make sure that the pH level of your pool does not go below 7.2. It should be maintained somewhere in the range of 7.2 to 7.6 to ensure that the pool water is safe for swimmers and your pool equipment. You can do so by using a drop-type test. Whenever you suspect that the pH value of your pool water is below 7.2, make sure to contact pool remodeling and maintenance professionals in Houston to ensure that further damage to your pool equipment can be avoided.

Being a pool owner, it is your responsibility to maintain your pool water chemistry along with its pH for a better longevity of your pool equipment.

HIRE A REPUTABLE COMPANY – By hiring a reputable swimming pool repair and maintenance company, you are taking a step forward to maintain your pool, which is otherwise a difficult task if done on an individual basis. On a regular basis keep monitoring all your pool equipment to get small repairs done on time, so that you can avoid costly repairs later on.

POOL COVER – KEEP THE MAINTENANCE COST LOW – A pool cover is also an excellent way to keep the pool maintenance costs low. Having a pool cover that fits properly and used appropriately can help reduce the number of those pesky “love bugs” from getting in. Once you start seeing them flying around ensure that your pool is properly covered, and if you happen to neglect, they will be everywhere. Troubleshooting Tips To Help You Avoid Pool Pump Failure

Owning a pool can be an exhilarating and luxurious experience. Swimming pool is a paradise where you can relax and unwind, have fun, or create memories with your family that will last a lifetime. However, sometimes pool problems such as pool pump failure can create stressful moments. Esposito Pools, specializing in pool service in Cypress, is capable of handling all of your pump related needs.

Below are mentioned the troubleshooting tips that will help you stop a small problem before it becomes a gigantic mess.

Troubleshooting Tips To Help You Avoid Pool Pump Failure

INSPECT YOUR POOL ON REGULAR BASIS – Make it a habit to visually inspect your pump and filter the system on a regular basis. Look for the signs of corrosion on bolts, pump housings, and between threaded connections. Also, keep a check on any type of water stains that might have developed in the time span. O-rings, gaskets or cracks in the unit need professional repairs, so call your pool repair company before complete pump failure sets in.

CHECK THE WATER FLOW – You have to inculcate the habit to determine if the flow from your water return is weak or strong. This can be easily done by simply feeling the flow with your hand. If the flow is weak, 9 times out of 10 it is a dirty filter. However, there can be other reasons, such as an obstruction in the inlet or outlet lines or your pump system could be sucking air. If you have cleaned your filter and skimmer but still need help to get the optimum flow from your pump, give our knowledgeable technicians a call.

DETERMINE ITS CYCLING – While the pump is still operational, keep a check whether it is cycling between on and off at irregular intervals. Check out if the motor is overheating or shutting itself down. This type of problem occurs due to faulty electrical cords. If this is the case, an electrician should be contacted to fix the problem. However, if the electrical wires are not the actual cause, then probably it can be the malfunctioning of the internal part. Contact your reliable company specializing in pool services in Cypress to prolong the life of your pump.

Pool pump failure can lead you in a troublesome situation where you will be left with no solution, but hopefully the aforesaid tips can be of some help. Therefore, choose a company that can provide you with satisfactory pool services in Cypress. Give Esposito Pools a chance to help you with your swimming pool repair or maintenance needs, so that you can enjoy your pool every day.

Choosing the Right Type of Pool Cleaner: Suction Side, Pressure Side or Robotic

Pool cleaning is always considered the great activity as it enables the pool owners to cut back on a large portion of pool maintenance. People often wonder as to which type of cleaner is best suitable for their swimming pool? Esposito Pools, being a leading provider of impeccable range of pool cleaning services in Cypress and surrounding areas, knows what are the prons and cons of different pool cleaners. Before you purchase pool cleaners, check out the prons and cons of these three types of cleaners - suction side, the pressure side, and robotic cleaners.

Choosing the Right Type of Pool Cleaner: Suction Side, Pressure Side or Robotic

SUCTION SIDE POOL CLEANERS – Suction-side pool cleaners work along with the dedicated suction line in your pool. They get attached to the suction line and utilize the suction to propel the cleaner throughout the pool while scrubbing the pool surface, eliminating dirt and debris from your pool.

Pros:

The moving parts are fewer

The cost incurred in less

Easy to maintain

Cons:

Increases the pressure on filter

Requires pool pump to run

PRESSURE SIDE POOL CLEANERS – Pressure-side pool cleaners make use of existing pressure side line so that the cleaner propel throughout your pool. The water returned back into your pool fuels the cleaner, but it can require an additional booster pump to run. Unlike suction side cleaners, pressure side pool cleaners do not use your pool’s filtration system. Instead to accumulate dirt and debris they make use of filtration bag, thus relieving pressure and avoiding wear and tear of the filtration system.

Pros:

Relieves pressure on filter

The cost incurred in less

Easy to maintain

Cons:

Can sometimes require extra booster pump

Requires pool pump to run

ROBOTIC POOL CLEANERS – Likewise other pool cleaners, robotic cleaners do not use pool cleaning equipment and nor do they run off the power from your house. The best thing is they free up pressure on your pool equipment and reduce overall power costs and consumption while providing superior cleaning power. They use the simple technology of “plug and play” and pick up large and small debris in the built-in filtration system. Many times they also scrub the pool floor and steps clean thus eliminating the need to clean your pool walls with a brush. The reason why the robotic cleaners are considered ideal for most pools is that they reduce the maintenance cost and wear and tear of the pool equipment.

Pros:

It offers superior cleaning

Energy efficient

Eliminates wear and tear of pool equipment

Cons:

The upfront cost involved is higher

With it arises the need to clean the filter

Professional pool technicians send by Esposito Pools provides reliable pool cleaning in Cypress at an affordable price along with pool equipment inspection & maintenance as well as monitoring of pool water level. Rebound Cracks – Solution Is To Get Your Pool Repaired

Rebound cracks are predominately horizontal cracks that occur 2-3” below the top of your pool steps. It occurs when the excess gunite bounces off the wall upon application that has a low cement to sand ratio and is weak in strength. Upon immediate visual inspection, it is impossible to see any issue. As the pool ages and settles with time, the steps built with low cement content don’t have the strength to withstand the stress and the weakest areas crack. Usually, the crack runs horizontally under the step.

Pool Repair Houston

So for this, you need to get your pool plastered again or get it fully repaired by the company specializing in pool repair services. But before you seek professional help from a pool repair company, check out the reasons for pool cracks:

•    INADEQUATE BEARING OF THE SOILS OR SOIL RELATED ISSUES – When the pools are built, no one is bothered to take into consideration the soil over which the pool is being built. When you consider all the construction material and the pool water, then a pool can weigh more than 450,000 lbs. The soil in the Texas region is very reactive and that is why the soil cannot withstand the weight of the pool until and unless the soil is properly prepared. Moreover, the construction efforts put in by the company specializing in pool repair in Houston are always in place to deal with the soil issues and avoid any future problem like this.
•    LACK OF TENSILE STRENGTH – Inadequate tensile strength and improper placement of reinforcing steel can also cause pool steps to crack. The rebar installed in older pools varies on its placement. Often rebar is installed in larger than 10”x10” on center grid patterns which are bad. 8”x8” on the center grid pattern is standard in today’s pools.
•    INADEQUATE COMPRESSIVE VALUES OF THE GUNITE – Guinte application is considered great and perfect in pool construction if all rebound and trimmings are thrown out of the pool during construction. However, if this is done the total cost of the construction would increase. The areas of the pool that have rebound in them have no compressive strength and the pool structure is weak in that area. Hence, do not throw any of that dead material, instead, wind it up on the pool floor, steps, and benches of the pool and spa.

If your pool is also facing rebound cracks, it’s time to think about a pool remodel or pool repair.  Cracks in swimming pools must be addressed to prevent them from becoming worse, such as allowing the pool to lose water. Water loss may not appear to be a concern; however, any amount of water loss over a period of time can result in the major structural problem for the pool. Esposito Pools – the reliable and professional company offering pool repair services in Houston takes pride in going beyond your expectations and will do everything to explain the most efficient way to operate your pool or make repairs or remodels.
