Seasonal Pool Care Posted by Esposito Pools | Comments: (0) | Pool Care

      1.  KEEP ALL PUMPS ON (Filter, Cleaner, Fountain, Etc.)

(*Remember - Wind Chill and Dew Points can create freezing conditions)

      2.  PLACE A WATER PROOF TARP LOOSELY OVER EQUIPMENT/PLUMBING (to prevent frozen rain/snow from having contact with  equipment/plumbing.)

Make sure tarp is not in direct contact with equipment/plumbing (use cardboard or lawn chair cushions between equip/tarp.)  ALLOW ENOUGH AIR SPACE SO VENTS ON MOTORS ARE NOT BLOCKED.

How to turn your pump(s) on:

These systems should be programmed to turn ALL your pumps on anytime the air temperature

         drops below 38.

If all pumps do not come on, or you can not turn them on from your indoor controller, then:

       1.  Go to outside Control Panel.

       2.  Place Controller into "SERVICE" Mode.

       3.  Turn on ALL pumps (Filter, Cleaner, Fountains, Etc.)

       4.  After Freeze Danger - turn outside control back to "AUTO" mode.

*Remember, if you turn pump on or off from inside controller, then the scheduled programming will take over control of turning your pump on or off at the next scheduled time.  To avoid this, you will have to put controller into "SERVICE" mode as stated in 1-4 above.

If you do not have a freeze protector installed on all pumps,

then you will have to switch each pump on before any

freeze dangers (temps less than 38 is standard)

At pumps controlled by Mechanical Timers:

      1.  At each timer:  Slide Switch(s) to "ON" positions and pump should come on.

      2.  If needed:  Loosen and Remove "OFF" Trip Switches on Timer Dial so pump

            will stay on.

      3.  After Freeze Danger - Replace "OFF" Trip Switches on Timer Dial.

      4.  Adjust Timer Dials to Correct Times by Pulling Outward on Dial and Rotate

            to Correct time.

             -  Check that dial feels like it seated properly back down into the gears.

             -  If one of the trip switches is near the current time indicator (the silver marker pointing downward from center of dial), you may have to offset the dial or the trip switch to move dial.

How much bad pool plaster will cost you everyday you operate your pool! Posted by Esposito Pools | Comments: (0) | Pool Care, Pool Repair, Pool Service

As a pool owner you need to know just how much bad pool plaster will cost you very day that you operate your pool.

Any homeowner that has bad plaster or colored aggregate plaster that is not chalkboard smooth to the touch, is unknowingly wasting money every day running your pool pumps longer and buying more chemicals.

This picture represents a new pool built by this family's home / pool construction partner.  The stairs in this picture had to be completely torn out and rebuilt due to missing steel.   The gunite was also improperly installed for this sparkling brand new pool. So much for being able to trust close friends.

What most homeowners, swimming pool builders, pool stores, and even pool plasterers don't understand can cost you!  If this pool never had our quality construction and plaster work done to the stairs, then every inch of their swimming pool would have become covered with algae. Everyone would have blamed the homeowner for not properly taking care of their maintenance, including the spouse in the house!

But regardless, no matter how badly this homeowner may have maintained their swimming pool, a pool with a quality plaster finish would not have had any algae, as proved in the picture.  This means less chemicals, less circulation, and less labor are needed to keep the same exact swimming pool looking, as great as, the high quality finished aggregate plaster on the stairs.

In actuality, our plaster work proves this whole swimming pool could have gone with less maintenance, less chemicals and less labor and still would not have shown any signs of algae if we had been the company that installed the original plaster.

Without a variable like our workmanship in your pool, you operate your pool just like someone who drives a car and has no idea there are higher quality cars with much better performance and gas mileage.

No matter where you live, don't hesitate to contact us to let us advise you how to get the most out of your pool ownership.

Please be sure to Follow and Like us for future valuable information.

More Detailed Information about this job is below:
We resurfaced these stairs with the same aggregate plaster that the pool originally had installed.  EXCEPT, our workmanship of applying the same plaster leaves a highly smoother surface for less debris and algae to grow in.

As you can see, the whole pool of rough aggregate plaster is covered with green algae except the very smooth area of the stairs that we rebuilt with high quality workmanship.

This difference costs you lots and lots of money every day to run your pump longer and treat your pool with extra chemicals.  Not to mention the extra attention a pool needs that doesn't have smooth plaster.

When this pool is algae free, you cannot tell the difference looking at our work or theirs, but if you touch both areas you can feel the smoothness of our work vs typical rough aggregate applications. We care! We take more time to do things right. We want you to benefit from using us.

If you are going to remodel, replaster, put in new plaster, make a change to your swimming pool, or build a new swimming pool, please make sure you get with an expert that cares about you years after the work is finished.
Make sure you contact us, because we truly care about you.

Follow These Tips To Spend Less on Swimming Pool Repair & Maintenance

For most pool owners, having a swimming pool means much more than just being able to go for a swim whenever they want. There is a lot of maintenance involved in owning a swimming pool no matter what size the pool is and where you live. While a pool owner may do all of the work to keep a pool well maintained, there will be times when a pool will need repairs.

Everyone wants to save money in whatever task they do, hence, swimming pool repair job is no different. So, check out these tips to reduce your pool maintenance costs.

HIRE A REPUTABLE COMPANY – By hiring a reputable swimming pool repair and maintenance company, you are taking a step forward to maintain your pool, which is otherwise a difficult task if done on an individual basis. Allowing chlorine levels to dip too drastically will allow algae to begin to grow. Levels that are too high can result in chemical burns and itching eyes. Your pool filter should be cleaned and replaced at regular intervals to help it continue functioning at its best. The team of experts of Esposito Pools is knowledgeable in all aspects of swimming pool repair and maintenance needs. Allow us to reduce some of these stress-inducing things and call our professionals to keep your pool repaired and maintained.

CLEAN & MONITOR YOUR POOL FILTER – Pool pumps use a significant amount of electricity. You can enjoy clean water and smaller electric bills by limiting the amount of time that your pool pump runs. In most cases, four hours per day is enough to maintain optimal water quality. It will help you save money by running your pump for limited time period. On a regular basis keep monitoring all your pool equipment to get small repairs done on time, so that you can avoid costly repairs later on.

POOL COVER – KEEP THE MAINTENANCE COST LOW – A pool cover is also an excellent way to keep the pool maintenance costs low. Having a pool cover that fits properly and used appropriately can help reduce the number of those pesky “love bugs” from getting in. Once you start seeing them flying around ensure that your pool is properly covered, and if you happen to neglect, they will be everywhere. It will also keep leaves, grass and even tiny little objects, which create the most hindrances in the proper functioning, away from your pool.

Regular pool maintenance is very much vital for the proper functioning of your pool. Being the most trusted pool repair company in Cypress, Esposito Pools can help you keep your pool well-maintained. We will handle all your repair needs, from top to bottom with utmost care and perfection.

Troubleshooting Tips To Help You Avoid Pool Pump Failure

Owning a pool can be an exhilarating and luxurious experience. Swimming pool is a paradise where you can relax and unwind, have fun, or create memories with your family that will last a lifetime. However, sometimes pool problems such as pool pump failure can create stressful moments. Esposito Pools, specializing in pool service in Cypress, is capable of handling all of your pump related needs.

Below are mentioned the troubleshooting tips that will help you stop a small problem before it becomes a gigantic mess.

Troubleshooting Tips To Help You Avoid Pool Pump Failure

INSPECT YOUR POOL ON REGULAR BASIS – Make it a habit to visually inspect your pump and filter the system on a regular basis. Look for the signs of corrosion on bolts, pump housings, and between threaded connections. Also, keep a check on any type of water stains that might have developed in the time span. O-rings, gaskets or cracks in the unit need professional repairs, so call your pool repair company before complete pump failure sets in.

CHECK THE WATER FLOW – You have to inculcate the habit to determine if the flow from your water return is weak or strong. This can be easily done by simply feeling the flow with your hand. If the flow is weak, 9 times out of 10 it is a dirty filter. However, there can be other reasons, such as an obstruction in the inlet or outlet lines or your pump system could be sucking air. If you have cleaned your filter and skimmer but still need help to get the optimum flow from your pump, give our knowledgeable technicians a call.

DETERMINE ITS CYCLING – While the pump is still operational, keep a check whether it is cycling between on and off at irregular intervals. Check out if the motor is overheating or shutting itself down. This type of problem occurs due to faulty electrical cords. If this is the case, an electrician should be contacted to fix the problem. However, if the electrical wires are not the actual cause, then probably it can be the malfunctioning of the internal part. Contact your reliable company specializing in pool services in Cypress to prolong the life of your pump.

Pool pump failure can lead you in a troublesome situation where you will be left with no solution, but hopefully the aforesaid tips can be of some help. Therefore, choose a company that can provide you with satisfactory pool services in Cypress. Give Esposito Pools a chance to help you with your swimming pool repair or maintenance needs, so that you can enjoy your pool every day.

Choosing the Right Type of Pool Cleaner: Suction Side, Pressure Side or Robotic

Pool cleaning is always considered the great activity as it enables the pool owners to cut back on a large portion of pool maintenance. People often wonder as to which type of cleaner is best suitable for their swimming pool? Esposito Pools, being a leading provider of impeccable range of pool cleaning services in Cypress and surrounding areas, knows what are the prons and cons of different pool cleaners. Before you purchase pool cleaners, check out the prons and cons of these three types of cleaners - suction side, the pressure side, and robotic cleaners.

Choosing the Right Type of Pool Cleaner: Suction Side, Pressure Side or Robotic

SUCTION SIDE POOL CLEANERS – Suction-side pool cleaners work along with the dedicated suction line in your pool. They get attached to the suction line and utilize the suction to propel the cleaner throughout the pool while scrubbing the pool surface, eliminating dirt and debris from your pool.

The moving parts are fewer

The cost incurred in less

Easy to maintain

Increases the pressure on filter

Requires pool pump to run

PRESSURE SIDE POOL CLEANERS – Pressure-side pool cleaners make use of existing pressure side line so that the cleaner propel throughout your pool. The water returned back into your pool fuels the cleaner, but it can require an additional booster pump to run. Unlike suction side cleaners, pressure side pool cleaners do not use your pool’s filtration system. Instead to accumulate dirt and debris they make use of filtration bag, thus relieving pressure and avoiding wear and tear of the filtration system.

Relieves pressure on filter

The cost incurred in less

Easy to maintain

Can sometimes require extra booster pump

Requires pool pump to run

ROBOTIC POOL CLEANERS – Likewise other pool cleaners, robotic cleaners do not use pool cleaning equipment and nor do they run off the power from your house. The best thing is they free up pressure on your pool equipment and reduce overall power costs and consumption while providing superior cleaning power. They use the simple technology of “plug and play” and pick up large and small debris in the built-in filtration system. Many times they also scrub the pool floor and steps clean thus eliminating the need to clean your pool walls with a brush. The reason why the robotic cleaners are considered ideal for most pools is that they reduce the maintenance cost and wear and tear of the pool equipment.

It offers superior cleaning

Energy efficient

Eliminates wear and tear of pool equipment

The upfront cost involved is higher

With it arises the need to clean the filter

Professional pool technicians send by Esposito Pools provides reliable pool cleaning in Cypress at an affordable price along with pool equipment inspection & maintenance as well as monitoring of pool water level. Along with outstanding pool service, we give our clients the direct estimate of their pool cleaning and maintenance requirements. The cleaning service rates might slightly vary depending on the size of the pool, trees & shrubs, and other additional features that a pool might have.

Rebound Cracks – Solution Is To Get Your Pool Repaired

Rebound cracks are predominately horizontal cracks that occur 2-3” below the top of your pool steps. It occurs when the excess gunite bounces off the wall upon application that has a low cement to sand ratio and is weak in strength. Upon immediate visual inspection, it is impossible to see any issue. As the pool ages and settles with time, the steps built with low cement content don’t have the strength to withstand the stress and the weakest areas crack. Usually, the crack runs horizontally under the step.

Pool Repair Houston

So for this, you need to get your pool plastered again or get it fully repaired by the company specializing in pool repair services. But before you seek professional help from a pool repair company, check out the reasons for pool cracks:

•    INADEQUATE BEARING OF THE SOILS OR SOIL RELATED ISSUES – When the pools are built, no one is bothered to take into consideration the soil over which the pool is being built. When you consider all the construction material and the pool water, then a pool can weigh more than 450,000 lbs. The soil in the Texas region is very reactive and that is why the soil cannot withstand the weight of the pool until and unless the soil is properly prepared. Moreover, the construction efforts put in by the company specializing in pool repair in Houston are always in place to deal with the soil issues and avoid any future problem like this.
•    LACK OF TENSILE STRENGTH – Inadequate tensile strength and improper placement of reinforcing steel can also cause pool steps to crack. The rebar installed in older pools varies on its placement. Often rebar is installed in larger than 10”x10” on center grid patterns which are bad. 8”x8” on the center grid pattern is standard in today’s pools.
•    INADEQUATE COMPRESSIVE VALUES OF THE GUNITE – Guinte application is considered great and perfect in pool construction if all rebound and trimmings are thrown out of the pool during construction. However, if this is done the total cost of the construction would increase. The areas of the pool that have rebound in them have no compressive strength and the pool structure is weak in that area. Hence, do not throw any of that dead material, instead, wind it up on the pool floor, steps, and benches of the pool and spa.

If your pool is also facing rebound cracks, it’s time to think about a pool remodel or pool repair.  Cracks in swimming pools must be addressed to prevent them from becoming worse, such as allowing the pool to lose water. Water loss may not appear to be a concern; however, any amount of water loss over a period of time can result in the major structural problem for the pool. Esposito Pools – the reliable and professional company offering pool repair services in Houston takes pride in going beyond your expectations and will do everything to explain the most efficient way to operate your pool or make repairs or remodels.
